By Allan Preston

The joint funeral of an elderly couple murdered in Co Armagh will take place this afternoon in Portadown.

Michael and Marjorie Cawdery, both aged 83, were found dead in their Portadown home on Friday, May 26 after being stabbed to death.

A family notice has described Mr and Mrs Cawdery as the "loved and loving parents of Shirley, Graham and Wendy, who enriched the lives of all they met".

The funeral service begins at 2pm at Drumcree Parish Church in Portadown, with a private committal to follow.

The man accused of their murder, Thomas Scott Entree (40) from Kilkeel, appeared before Lisburn Magistrates Court on May 30.

During his court appearance, his lawyer said he had "mental health difficulties" and had been under supervision while in police custody since his arrest.

McEntee was also charged with aggravated burglary and aggravated vehicle-taking.

He is due to appear before Craigavon Magistrates Court again on June 23 via video-link.
