Funeral for nurse Seaneen McCullough killed in Turkey balcony fall held

There was a large turnout for the funeral of Seaneen McCullough, the nurse who fell from a balcony while on holiday in Turkey last week.

Seaneen had travelled with her son Eoin and partner Paul. She had worked at the Mater Hospital in Belfast.

Requiem mass for the 37-year-old was held at Corpus Christi Church in Ballymurphy on Sunday. Scores of people turned out to pay their last respects with Belfast Trust nurses performing a guard of honour for Seaneen as her coffin was carried into the church.

On Monday friends and family of the "bright and bubbly" former pupil of St Louise's Comprehensive in west Belfast gathered in New Barnsley, where Seaneen lived.

In a highly emotional speech, friend and organiser Rosaleen Lynass spoke fondly of her childhood friend and schoolmate. Another of Seaneen's friends, Colleen Catney, told the Andersonstown News of the moment they found out about their friend's passing.

"We had a group chat and when we heard the news we were all wrecking our heads trying to think of what we could do to help the family during this difficult time," she said.

Colleen and Rosaleen decided to start a JustGiving page to help her family with travel and funeral costs.

Following Saturday's service by committal took place at Roselawn Crematorium.
