Funeral held for newly-wed Jonathan Peden following Lurgan workplace accident death

By Staff Reporter

The funeral has taken place for Jonathan Peden, the Donaghcloney man killed in a workplace accident last week.

The 33-year-old, who was described as "one of the most amazing people", died after an incident at Little Electrical Engineering in Lurgan where he worked as a buyer.

His funeral took place from his parents' home in Donaghcloney on Monday followed by a service in Donaghcloney Elim Church.

He was to be buried at Donacloney Presbyterian graveyard.

His loved ones have asked for flowers only, with donations, if desired, made to Craigavon City Park Run c/o Malcomsons Funeral Service in Lurgan.

Jonathan married Roisin (nee Greene) at the beginning of last month at a ceremony in Craigavon Civic Centre.

But Roisin's joy turned to heartbreak on Thursday when she was told her new husband was dead.

"It is just so unreal, I can't believe it. I feel broken. I wish somebody would wake me up," a devastated Roisin told UTV.

"I just can't believe I'm not going to be able to hug him again or see him smiling, he's just gone."

Johnny's mum, Sandra, said her son had texted her on the night before the accident to tell her he loved her, something he did regularly.

"I'm just completely heartbroken, he was just the best son anybody could ask for, he was just so good, and he had so many friends, it's unbelievable," she said.

"It's terrible, it's just trying to come to terms with it.

"You just want him back again."
