Funeral held for victim of Larne killing Laurence Shaw

By Adrian Rutherford

The funeral of a man found murdered in his home will take place today.

Laurence Shaw (56) was discovered dead inside the property in the Hillmount Gardens area of Larne last Monday afternoon.

His family believe his throat had been slit.

A 39-year-old man, who was arrested during the early hours of Tuesday morning on suspicion of murder, remains in police custody.

Requiem Mass for Mr Shaw is due to be celebrated at St Anthony's Church, Craigyhill, at noon today, followed by burial in Larne Cemetery.

A post-mortem was due to be carried out last Wednesday on Mr Shaw's remains to establish how he died, but the results of the tests have not yet been made public.

Last Friday police issued a fresh appeal for information.

They specifically asked anyone who saw a blue Citroen van on the day Mr Shaw was last seen to come forward.
