Funeral of balcony fall victim Colin McGarry takes place in Belfast
The funeral of a Belfast man who died after falling from a balcony at a Spanish hotel has taken place.
Colin McGarry (48) was on holiday in Benidorm with friends when the tragic accident occurred in the Calle Gerona area on June 2.
Hundreds of mourners gathered at Sacred Heart Church in north Belfast on Monday to pay their respects.
Just hours before his death, Mr McGarry had watched his favourite football team Liverpool win the Champions League.
On Monday, a Liverpool flag was draped over his coffin as it was carried along the Oldpark Road.
In an death notice Mr McGarry's family said that he would be "sorely missed".
He is survived by his mother Lyndia, fiancé Gail, brothers Kieran, Dennis, Aaron and sisters Lynette and Roslyn.
Originally from the Oldpark area of Belfast, Mr McGarry had been living in the Skegoneill area and worked as a scaffolder.
Mr McGarry's partner Gail told the Belfast Telegraph that the entire McGarry family were "completely devastated" by the news of his death.
"He was our rock and we are left with a space that will never be filled," she said.
