Funeral of murdered INLA chief's son Declan McGlinchey takes place in Bellaghy

Hundreds of people have turned out today for the funeral of republican Declan McGlinchey.

Mr McGlinchey (39), a son of INLA leader Dominic McGlinchey, died of a heart attack at his home suddenly on Sunday night.

The funeral was held today in St Mary’s Church in Bellaghy, with hundreds following his coffin through the village to requiem mass.

Declan McGlinchey, a father-of-seven, took ill with chest pains on Sunday.

His family phoned an ambulance and he was able to walk out of the house.

However, he suffered a massive heart attack moments later and paramedics were unable to save his life.

He is survived by his wife Brenda, seven children and brother Dominic.
