Funeral of murdered UDA man John Boreland set for tomorrow

By Staff Reporter

The funeral of murdered UDA man William John Boreland will take place tomorrow at the Moravian Church on Belfast's Oldpark Road.

Mr Boreland was gunned down last Sunday outside his Sunningdale Gardens home by an unknown shotgun-wielding assailant.

Devastated by the murder, his heartbroken parents Winnie and Billy did not wish to speak last night.

"Sadly missed and lovingly remembered. Goodnight, wonderful son, God bless. Free at last. Forever in our hearts", a family memorial notice placed in the Belfast Telegraph reads.

The funeral service is scheduled for 9am, followed by interment at Roselawn Cemetery.

Police investigations into the murder are continuing.

A 42 year-old man arrested in connection with the murder of Mr Boreland has been released unconditionally.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
