Funeral of Northern Ireland jogger hit by car to take place in Edinburgh

The funeral of a Northern Ireland mother who died after being hit by a car while jogging in Edinburgh will take place today.

Sharon Baines (53), formerly of Carrickfergus, died on December 12 during her morning run at Dalkeith Country Park.

Mrs Baines worked as a campus financial controller at the University of Edinburgh.

She is survived by her husband Rob and children Megan and Alistair.

Her funeral service takes place at Mortonhall Crematorium's main chapel in Edinburgh today at 3pm. Friends attending the ceremony have been invited to wear bright colours.

Police are investigating the incident.
