Gang beat up Belfast man with iron bars

A gang of masked men beat up a 22-year-old with iron bars in Belfast on Friday night.

Detectives in west Belfast are appealing for information about the attack, which happened at about 9.40pm in a house in Ballygomartin Drive.

Detective Inspector Brier said: "It is believed that a group of masked men entered the property and attacked the male with iron bars.

"A female and a young female child were also in the house at the time of the incident, but were not injured."

The victim was taken to hospital with injuries to his body, legs and arms.

His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Detective Brier said a red Volkswagen Golf parked at the house was also damaged.

Witnesses are asked to call police on the non emergency number, 101.
