Gang beats man in racist attack

A man was beaten with iron bars by a gang in south Belfast in a racially motivated attack.



The victim was walking in the Florenceville Drive area off the Ormeau Road at midday on Saturday when he was targeted by three men in their early 20s.

Two of the men attacked him with iron bars and the third cut the man’s arm with a knife.

The victim was treated in hospital for cuts and bruises.

The first attacker is described as 6ft tall, of medium build with short ginger hair. He was wearing a blue hooded top and black tracksuit bottoms. The second is described as 6ft tall, of heavy build with short blond hair.

The third man is described as 6ft tall, of heavy build with short dark hair. Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them on 0845 600 8000.
