Gang of masked men break into house and assault occupants with sticks

A gang of masked men have stormed a house in a Co Down village and assaulted the occupants.

On Wednesday night at around 10.30pm four masked men entered a property on Irish Street in Killyleagh.

The two male occupants in the house were assaulted with sticks. One of the occupants, a man in his 20s, sustained a suspected broken arm and bruising to his leg, while another man in his 40s sustained a cut to his chin and bruising to his head.

Damage was caused to an internal door and television.

A woman and her three children were upstairs at the time of the break-in and were not injured during the incident.

The men made off on foot.

Detective Sergeant Bell is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation to contact detectives in Ardmore Police Station on 101 quoting reference 1470 of 28/02/18.
