George Michael Belfast tribute mural proves cut above the rest

By Claire O'Boyle

A mural has sprung up in Belfast in memory of singer George Michael, who died on Christmas Day.

The black and white image appeared this week at Skinny Isaac's barber shop in the Botanic area, and owner Neil Bickerstaff said it had attracted lots of attention from passers-by.

"We put a couple of boards up a while ago and different graffiti artists have been doing different bits on them," he said.

"Prince appeared a couple of weeks ago, and then this week George Michael turned up. It looks great and we've had loads of tourists stopping outside the shop taking pictures with it. Now all we need is for them to come inside for a haircut!"

The artist behind the paintings, Glen Molloy, said his handiwork has already had around 29,000 views on Facebook.
