Glenavon score with scissors kick

Players at Glenavon Football Club are used to close shaves — but they never expected to get one at half-time.

A new hair-styling business has set up shop inside the grounds of the Lurgan club, the first of its kind in Northern Ireland.

Visitors to Mourneview Park can now get their scissor kicks from barber Jill Adams every match day.

Jill has even been asked to give a player a hot towel shave during half-time in their next live Sky TV game, and she is now asking fans to name the new business.

“The chairman and I just thought we would throw it out there and let local people choose the new name,” she said. “We will be looking for originality, and it has to be catchy, but the word ‘ace’ must be in the title.”

Club chairman Adrian Teer will chose the winning title on Saturday, February 5. The competition is open to under-16s, who should contact the club by the end of the month.

The winner will receive a signed Glenavon top and four tickets to a match with free haircuts for the ticketholders.
