Police are currently at the scene of a security alert in the Glencolin Walk area of west Belfast following the discovery of a suspicious object.

The Glen Road is closed between junctions of Shaw’s Road and Suffolk Road.  Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes.

There is no further information at this stage.

The alerts come after a prison officer narrowly escaped death in a bomb attack on Friday.

The father-of-three (52) suffered leg wounds when the device exploded under a van he was driving.
