Glengoland Gardens house fire: Firefighters rescue woman and dog from Belfast blaze

Firefighters rescued an elderly woman and her pet dog from a house fire in the Glengoland Gardens area of Belfast on Friday afternoon.

The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) received reports of the fire at around 2.45pm.

Parts of the house including the conservatory were destroyed in the blaze.

An NIFRS spokesperson said: "Three fire appliances from Cadogan and Springfield Fire Stations attended the fire.

"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued the lady. She was then taken to hospital by ambulance to be treated for smoke inhalation.

"Neighbours alerted NIFRS to the fire. The cause of the fire was accidental."
