Gobbins path tours 'sell at record levels'

By Staff Reporter

Co Antrim's troubled flagship attraction The Gobbins cliff path trail is proving to be a summer hit.

Tour tickets for the Islandmagee tourism spot are being snapped up at record levels, Mid and East Antrim Borough Council announced.

The historic Gobbins path re-opened in 2015, however, safety fears over rock falls forced its closure and it remained off limits until it was re-opened again last month.

Alister Bell, the operations and development manager at The Gobbins, said: "We are very pleased with the level of interest in the cliff path and visitor centre.

"We have sold out most of the tours which start at 10am daily and go on throughout the day until late evening, seven days a week.

"And it is very clear that the message is getting out well beyond our shores because more than half of our visitors are from abroad."
