Golden eagle that disappeared from Antrim bird sanctuary returned home safely
A golden eagle that escaped from a Co Antrim bird sanctuary has returned home safely.
The golden eagle, named Griff, had been missing from World of Owls in Randalstown since last week.
It escaped from its enclosure at the sanctuary, and despite the efforts of Mike Gibb from World of Owls, the bird had not been located, until Saturday morning.
In a Facebook post Mr Gibb said: "The eagle has landed Griff is home. After scouring hundreds of miles he was in a tree half a mile from us.
"We are delighted. Thank you everyone."
The species is the second largest bird of prey in the UK.
World of Owls has had Griff for around seven years.
