Golfer Michael Hoey's wife to rescue after he lost his clubs
Northern Ireland golfer Michael Hoey had to call on the assistance of wife Bev after his clubs got lost in transit on their way to Morocco.
Hoey is in Rabat, competing in the Trophee Hassan II on the European Tour, but when his airline misplaced his clubs upon arrival in Casablanca, the Ballyclare man was left without equipment.
However, his wife ensured Michael would get the chance to contest the tournament that he won in 2012.
Having flown from Belfast to London, Bev then drove 80 miles to the Titleist headquarters in St Ives and back again, flew from Heathrow to Casablanca to pick up more clubs before making the hour-long trip from the airport to Royal Golf Dar es Salam in Rabat for Michael.
The 39-year-old not only received his clubs from his wife in time to take his place on the first tee yesterday, but Hoey started strongly in Rabat at a tournament he has very fond memories of.
