Grand Opera House show halted because audience member falls ill

By Staff Reporter

A country music show in Belfast's Grand Opera House had to be stopped midway through the performance last night when a member of the audience took ill.

BBC presenter and singer Hugo Duncan was hosting a Garth Brooks Tribute night at the venue.

A Northern Ireland Ambulance Service spokesman said it had received a call to the theatre at 10.10pm with a report that a woman in the audience had passed out.

An ambulance crew attended but by the time they had arrived the woman had regained consciousness.

"She was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital as a precaution," added the spokesman.

One woman present told the Belfast Telegraph: "Everyone was shocked - we weren't really sure what was going on.

"But the staff were very good and reacted quickly."

The Grand Opera House did not respond to a request for information about the incident.
