Reduce, Reuse, Recycle at Belfast Zoo

Bring your glass and plastic to the zoo and leave it in the zoo’s permanent recycling banks this month.

The banks are located in the zoo’s main car park.

Unwanted clothes can also be left at the main reception desk where they are used for animal enrichment activities with the chimpanzees and gorillas.

You can also recycle a wide variety of materials (including paper, plastic bottles and cardboard) at Alexandra Park Recycling Centre, which is located at 180 Alexandra Park Avenue, Belfast, just off Antrim Road.

Bowls Open Session

Cavehill Bowling Club is holding an open session every Monday in January, from 2pm to 4.30pm.

The club is located at 20 North Circular Road and all ages are welcome. There will be qualified coaches for beginners.

Beauty and the Beast

Based on the classic French fairy tale, this story unfolds as good triumphs over evil and love conquers all. It takes place at the Courtyard Theatre on Friday, Saturday and a charity performance on Tuesday, January 19.

Belle and her family get ready to meet King Tristan but alas Tristan gets overthrown by his evil aunt and is transformed into a beast.

Heathcliff, son of the evil aunt, proclaims himself king and plans to rule the kingdom and marry Belle. But things do not go to plan and Belle discovers the Beast.

Emeregency First Aid Classes

An emergency First Aid for Appointed Persons course takes place at Mossley Mill on Tuesday, January 19, and Tuesday, January 26.

Upon completion of the course you can be the appointed person for your group/organisation to take charge of the first aid arrangements, including looking after the equipment and facilities, and calling the emergency services when required.

Places are restricted and will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis.

All courses are free of charge, however a £5 refundable booking deposit is required upon registration.

Applicants must be involved in community work within the borough and be over 16-years-old.
