STRANMILLIS Community Group Workshops — inter community development project Intercomm and its community partners will be hosting a workshop at the Chinese Resource Centre on 1 Stranmillis Embankment from 10am to 12pm today (Thursday, January 21).

The workshop has been arranged to discuss how community groups can work together to shape future service delivery and meet local community needs.

It will look at a number of key areas — peace, partnership, leadership and employment.

Voluntary and community groups are invited to attend.

DONEGALL ROAD

Local Youth Project — The Blackstaff Youth Initiative is a project organised by Southcity Resource Centre, Newburn Hall, 2 Maldon Street, and is funded by the Big Lottery Fund.

Residents in the Blackstaff area will be receiving leaflets giving full details about the project which includes a range of activities for young people in age groups five to 10-years-old, 11 to 13-years-old and 14 to 17-years-old.

New Yoga Class — A new yoga class starts on Tuesday, January 26, for 15 weeks.

It will take place from 2.15pm to 3.45pm at the Windsor Women’s Centre at 136 to 144 Broadway.

Village Design Team — The Housing Executive has been working to establish a design team for the Village Urban Renewal Area.

The team will be made up of representatives from the Housing Executive and the community as well as representatives from the housing associations appointed to build new homes in the area.

Discussions have and will continue to be held with local groups to agree on who should represent the community on the design team.

Community Group Memebership — All residents living in the Blackstaff Ward are entitled to become members of the Blackstaff Community Development Association.

Vital issues will be addressed throughout 2010 involving housing, roads, schools and environmental projects.

New Women's Programme — The Windsor Women’s Centre at 136 - 144 Broadway has launched its new 2010 Live & Learn programme.

All classes are free and involve a full range of activities.

A leaflet giving details is available from the centre or you can call 9023 5451.

Race for Life — the Windsor Women's team is inviting people to join them and take part in this year’s Race For Life 2010, a 5km run or walk around the Stormont Estate in aid of Cancer Research UK.
