Greenway searched after alleged rape of teenage girl
Police investigating the alleged rape of a teenage girl in Belfast have carried out searches along the Comber Greenway in the east of the city.
Officers, some armed, searched grass and hedges at the cordoned off Greenway yesterday.
The PSNI had received a report that a young girl, believed to be aged 16, was attacked by a male in her company.
It happened between the North Road and Sandown|Road at around 9pm on Saturday.
Another young female and a male were present, police said, adding that a definite line of inquiry is being followed.
Ulster Unionist councillor Jim Rodgers said: “It’s an horrendous experience for any woman.”
Police are appealing to anyone with information about the attack to contact them.
