Grieving family of Daniel McGreevy hopes for answers

The family of a teenager found dead in the grounds of Cavehill Park last year say they are "glad" there will be an inquest into his death.

Daniel McGreevy (16) left his home at Elmfield Road, Glengormley to meet up with friends at the country park on May 5 last year but never made it. His body was discovered in the grounds of the park shortly after 9pm.

His devastated parents Paul and Karen, were left with no explanation for his sudden death. The seemingly healthy teenager's heart showed no sign of damage and toxicology tests proved negative for alcohol and drugs.

His father told the Irish News that he hoped the inquest would help them "get some closure" because they simply don't know how Daniel died. "We could have spent the rest of our lives just wondering."

A provisional inquest date of July 30 has been set.
