Belfast's newest hotel saw the funny side of its recent 'heist' after one of its Halloween punters dressed up as the GP who made off with its £15,000 painting of actor Steve McQueen.

It became one of Northern Ireland's most infamous thefts of recent times after a Ballymena doctor was seen on CCTV removing the painting of the Hollywood icon from reception.

The hotel posted a picture of the punter on its Facebook page and wrote: "We saw some brilliant creations last night, but we feel this one deserves a special mention. #greatescape."

Meanwhile, Belfast's skyline lit up in an array of colours last night as a breathtaking fireworks display entertained the crowds gathered for the Halloween Monster Mash.

Local celebrities also donned their killer costumes for the weekend's parties with many of them covering their faces in paint and fake blood.

Former Miss Ireland Rebecca Maguire dressed up as reality TV star Kim Kardashian in her infamous 'breaking the internet' attempt back in 2014.

Meanwhile, former Miss NI Joanne Salley transformed herself with face paint to celebrate the 'day-of-the-dead'', and Cool FM presenter Rebecca McKinney opted for a more Disney look by dressing up as Minnie Mouse.
