Hammer attack ‘vicious’
Locals are being warned to be vigilant following a “vicious” hammer attack on an 18 year old boy during a street robbery in south Belfast on Tuesday, August 10.
The incident took place along Wellington Park Terrace around 3am, and has been condemned by local councillors.
SDLP councillor Niall Kelly said: “I condemn this incident and am relieved the victim did not sustain a serious injury. I appeal to young people to remain vigilant if walking home from a night out. It is always wise to journey home in groups and minimise the risk of harm.”
DUP MLA Jimmy Spratt said: “This savage and brutal attack is to be utterly condemned. My thoughts and prayers are with this young man and his family.
“I would ask anyone who witnessed this terrible incident or has any information relating to it to contact the police immediately. The person who carried out this attack must not be allowed to strike again.”
