Hammer trio attack victim after getting into his home

A man has been threatened with a hammer and left with scratches on his neck after three burglars forced their way into his home in north Belfast.

The incident took place on Alliance Road in the Ardoyne area at around 9.50pm on Monday night.

Three masked men, one armed with a hammer, entered the property and threatened the male occupant before assaulting him.

The men fled in a silver-coloured car in the direction of Deerpark Road.

The 25-year-old man sustained scratches to his neck as a result of the incident.

A 25-year-old woman, who was also in the house at the time, was not injured.

The police are appealing for information.

Detective Constable Gourley urged anyone who noticed any suspicious activity on Alliance Road around the time of the incident to contact detectives at Musgrave on 101.
