Hardy souls brrrrrave cold for charity dip

By Staff Reporter

Hundreds of people ventured into the frigid waters off Co Down yesterday for the annual charity swim at Ballyholme Yacht Club.

Among those taking a dip was Sochi Winter Olympian Aimee Fuller and pal Emma Kerrigan.

Team GB snowboarder Aimee may be used to cold conditions, but many of her fellow participants looked like they couldn't wait for the hotdogs and hot whiskey awaiting them back on shore.

The event was in aid of Sparks, which funds pioneering children's medical research.

It is currently backing three projects here, all of which are based between Queen's and Ulster universities.

Meanwhile, hundreds turned out for to see the traditional Boxing Day Moy hunt in Co Tyrone.

Horses and dogs led by South Tyrone Huntsman Ryan Carvill were cheered by onlookers as they made their way through the village from Moy Square.
