Harry and Meghan copied us, jokes couple tying the knot on same day as royals
A Co Fermanagh couple getting married on the same day as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have said the unexpected clash of dates will make their occasion all the more exciting.
Lucy Parkinson (26) from Kesh and her partner Andrew Dixon (30) from Tamlaght chose May 19 to say 'I do'.
They met five years ago while both were working at the Manor House Country Hotel outside Enniskillen and got engaged in May 2016.
Now two years on, Lucy, a food quality auditor, and solicitor Andrew are preparing to make the trip down the aisle.
Lucy joked that it was Harry and Meghan who had copied their wedding date.
"When they got engaged, we imagined that they would choose a date in May, possibly a bank holiday, but we had no idea it would be on the same day as ours," she said.
"It's lovely to think that we'll share something in common with them and it certainly makes the build-up to our own wedding day all the more exciting."
Unlike Harry and Meghan, who will wed in front of TV millions at St George's Chapel in the grounds of Windsor Castle, for Andrew and Lucy it will be a much smaller but equally special affair.
They will tie the knot alongside 160 family and friends at Derryvullen Parish Church in Tamlaght at 12.30pm followed by a reception at Harvey's Point Hotel in Co Donegal.
While Lucy will be kept busy on her wedding day, she admits she will probably have "a sneak peak" to see what the newest member of the royal family is wearing, even if it does make her late for her own nuptials.
"I'll certainly keep an eye out while I'm getting ready to see what kind of dress Meghan has chosen," she said.
"It might make me late getting to the church, but that will be nothing new."
