Heartless thief takes disabled boy's bike

By Adrian Rutherford

The family of a severely disabled child are unable to cycle together any more after a specialist device was taken by thieves who stole their bicycles.

An adult's grey and black Kona Good hybrid road bike and two children's bicycles were taken during the burglary from a shed at a house in the Chichester Park North area of North Belfast last Thursday, June 12.

An attachment to connect the adult bicycle with a wheelchair was also taken. One of the children suffers from severe disabilities.

Entry was gained to the shed sometime between 8pm on June 11 and 12.30pm on June 12.

Police are keen to speak to a male youth, around 17 years old and approximately 5'10" tall, with sandy coloured hair and wearing grey tracksuit bottoms, trainers and a hooded top.

The youth was spoken to by the homeowner in the garden of the property earlier in the day and police want to trace him.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact officers on the non-emergency number, 101. Information can also be passed to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
