Heavy rain, thunder and hail forecast for Northern Ireland

Heavy rain is predicted to hit large parts of Northern Ireland on Monday.

It will be another day of sunshine and showers, these isolated and light through to mid-morning building to turn more frequent and heavy from late morning, with a risk of thunder and hail for the afternoon.

There will be a maximum temperature of 18c.

There will be sharp afternoon showers decaying during the evening, leaving good spells of late sunshine.

It will mostly be dry overnight, but an area of rain spreading west of a line through Coleraine and Omagh before dawn.

It will be a dry and sunny start for most on Tuesday afternoon with occasional rain in the northwest, breaking to showers in late morning.
