A helicopter has made an emergency landing at Enniskillen airport.

The PSNI received a report of a helicopter in distress at the Killadeas Road area of the town on Tuesday afternoon.

The helicopter is understood to have made an emergency landing after take-off.

Police attendance was not required as there was no reports of any injuries.

The incident has been passed to the Air Accident investigation Branch (AAIB) for further investigation.

An AAIB spokesperson said: “The Air Accidents Investigation Branch is aware of a helicopter accident at Enniskillen airport and will be investigating”.

Ulster Unionist MLA Rosemary Barton has said she is pleased that there are no reports of any injuries following the incident.

Mrs Barton said: “Given the devastating consequences that could arise from a helicopter crash I am pleased that on this occasion there doesn’t appear to be any serious injury.

“Hopefully it has been possible to deal with the immediacy of this incident on site and no requirement for public emergency services involvement.”
