A new £10 million luxury beachfront apartment development will inject new life into Portrush in time for The Open golf tournament in July 2019.

Causeway Homes Ltd has announced the release of West Quays, a new building with 27 high spec apartments, which include seven penthouses with rooftop gardens.

The apartments, which start at £295,000, are being built on a derelict site on Kerr Street in the heart of the seaside town. They have been designed by local architects GM Design.

Aimed at the luxury market, there will be a choice of both two and three-bedroom apartments over four floors, with a light-filled, open plan living space looking out over the sea.

The superior specification promised includes a remotely operated smart heating system and triple glazed windows. The third floor penthouses incorporate a rooftop terrace with outstanding views of the Atlantic.

All apartments come with a private parking space and residents will have exclusive access to their own ground floor storage unit for those Portrush essentials of surf boards, bicycles and golf clubs.

The first phase will be completed before Royal Portrush hosts The Open next year.

A spokesman for Causeway Homes said: "The launch of West Quays is an exciting development supporting sustainable regeneration of a brown field site, providing an excellent range of quality new homes in Portrush. West Quays has been carefully designed to connect seamlessly with the surrounding area."

The development is now on release with agents, Philip Tweedie & Co, Portstewart, and Benson's, Coleraine.
