Hoax caller 'breached Asbo terms'

By Nevin Farrell

An Antrim woman has been accused of breaching an Anti-Social Behaviour Order aimed at stopping her making hoax bomb calls to police.

Joanne Mitchell (44), of Greenview Avenue, is alleged to have breached the Asbo on February 28.

She is accused of possessing an iPad, Sky router, mobile phone and Xbox, which she was banned from having to prevent her accessing the internet.

She appeared at Antrim Magistrates Court yesterday via video-link from Hydebank Prison.

In December at the same court when police applied for the Asbo it was heard that Mitchell bombarded Crimestoppers with 100 hoax calls in a seven-month period last year.

The Asbo application banned Mitchell from contacting Crimestoppers or owning or using any internet capable device, any Wi-Fi capable connection dongle, hub, router or similar device.

The case was adjourned until March 21.
