Hoax device found on shop roof in Ardoyne area 'may have been there for considerable time'

A suspect device has found on the roof of a shop in the Ardoyne area of north Belfast has been declared a hoax.

Army bomb teams had been dealing with the object, which was found shortly before 1pm on Tuesday.

Police said the device may have been in the area "for a considerable period of time".

The Crumlin Road had been closed close at the Ardoyne shops, but has since reopened.

A police spokesman said that a "suspicious object was discovered on the roof of one of the businesses at 12.45pm".
