Hockey stars' continuation of sister's legacy is inspiring
In today's paper, we publish the story of Ireland Olympic hockey stars Bethany and Serena Barr from Dollingstown who are raising funds for 2020 Vision to mark the 10th anniversary of their sister Charlene's death in 2010.
She suffered from cystic fibrosis and died aged 20. During her time in hospital she helped raise funds for a school in Uganda. Charlene's Project, now run by her family, continues her efforts with education and health projects in Uganda, and work in other places.
Now the sisters have set out to raise £500,000 to build a secondary school in Uganda.
Bethany and Serena are not only champion hockey-players, they are also champion human beings.
