Hoedown time for borough

It's time to dust off the stetsons and pull on your cowboy boots for Newtownabbey’s first ever Uptown Hoedown.

The borough’s Country & Western festival takes place in Glengormley from June 10 to 12.

On June 10, food tasting and line dancing workshops for senior citizens will be held in the Barron Hall from 1-4pm.

The Hot Dog Hoedown, a junior disco & BBQ will take place on June 11 from 7– 9pm at the Barron Hall.

The main event on Saturday, June 12, kicks off at noon with entertainment for all the family. A funzone will provide hours of free activities for children, including inflatables, arts & crafts and drumming workshops.

For the first time, Citybeat will hold a ‘Country Heat’ of their Young Star Search competition, so maybe we’ll spot the next Garth Brooks or Taylor Swift.

The Ulster Model Airplane Club will be displaying its replica planes and the classic car display is sure to attract a crowd of keen-eyed enthusiasts.
