Hold-ups at separate shops may be linked

By ErinnKerr

Staff at a shop on Glen Road in west Belfast have been left badly shaken following an armed robbery.

A man entered the store with a suspected firearm at around 7pm on Monday and demanded that a member of staff fill a black bin liner with money.

Police are investigating a possible link between the robbery and another incident that happened just 15 minutes earlier at a bookmakers on the Falls Road.

At approximately 6.45pm a man entered the premises and pointed what is believed to have been a small baseball bat wrapped in a black bin liner at staff.

He told them to hand over money but left the premises empty-handed when his orders were refused.

The male was described as being about 19 with a thin build and gaunt face.

No one was injured during either the robbery or attempted robbery but staff were left badly shaken.
