Homes evacuated amid security alert

Homes have been evacuated in Armagh following a security alert.

Police and Army bomb experts are investigating the College Street area of the town, where a suspicious object was found. The street has been closed.

A contentious loyalist parade is due to take place in Armagh between 7.30pm and 9.30pm on Saturday night.

The Parades Commission gave the Cormeen Rising Sons of William Flute Band permission to hold the march, despite opposition from Nationalist politicians.

The PSNI has confirmed it will have officers on patrol throughout the day.

Thousands of people attended Armagh's annual St Patrick's Day parade in the afternoon.
