Homes evacuated in Armagh security alert

Homes were evacuated at the scene of a security alert in Armagh on Sunday.

A suspicious object was discovered in the Bawn Meadows area of Hamiltonsbawn.

Bomb disposal experts attended the scene and made the explosive device safe, which they described as viable. It has been taken away for forensic examination.

Police said all residents have been allowed to return to their homes and appealed to anyone who may have noticed suspicious activity in the area to contact them at Armagh on 0845 600 8000.
