Honour for Orangeman Roy Kells

A leading businessman and a Lodge renowned for its charitable benevolence have been recognised by the Orange Institution.

Fermanagh entrepreneur Roy Kells received a lifetime achievement award at this year's Orange Community Awards in Lisburn.

The 81-year-old is chairman and director of SD Kells and a former County Fermanagh Grand Master.

Members of Bible and Crown Defenders LOL 423, from Banbridge, received the Grand Master's award in recognition of their charity endeavours. They have raised almost £170,000 in recent years.

Other winners at 'The Grands' included Aughnahoory Heroes LOL 343B, who claimed the coveted best new banner award. Its banner is a tribute to local World War One hero, Robert Hill Hanna. Ravara Pipe Band, Ballygowan, claimed the band of the year award.
