Hunt for rapist after teenage girl assaulted in Belfast

By Deborah McAleese

Police in north Belfast are hunting a rapist following an attack on a teenage girl.

She was assaulted between 12.30am and 3.30am on Saturday in the Woodvale Road/Woodvale Park area, police said.

Det Sgt Mike Davis would like to speak to anyone in the area at the time who saw a girl "with long blonde hair, wearing a white short-sleeved dress and black shoes in the company of a male, who was wearing a dark waist length jacket, dark boot cut jeans and a dark baseball cap."

Officers can be contacted at the Rape Crime Unit at Ladas Drive on 101.

North Belfast DUP MLA William Humphrey said: "This is a shocking assault. I call for full co-operation with the PSNI Rape Crime Unit investigation."
