Hunt for two cyclists who robbed woman in east Belfast

By Nevin Farrell

Two men riding bicycles robbed a woman in east Belfast.

The woman was on a walkway from the Newtownards Road that runs behind a fast food outlet at a shopping centre at around 3.50pm on Saturday.

She was approached by two men on bikes, who assaulted her and made off with money.

The first man was aged around 24-26, tall and of slim build, wore a light grey baseball cap covering his eyes, a grey hoodie, dark tracksuit bottoms and white trainers. He had an east Belfast accent. He was riding a racing-style bike with gears at the front.

The second man was in his mid-20s, smaller and stockier, and wore a grey baseball cap, dark tracksuit and dark bottoms with Adidas stripes.

Constable Conor McMinn said: "It is believed there were a number of people in the area at the time and I would urge them to contact police at Strandtown on the non-emergency number 101."
