The grieving husband of an Antrim mum who died suddenly last week has thanked everyone who is supporting his family.

Keelan Burns said he will ensure their young son will always know how much his mother loved him.

Laura Burns (32) was in bed with one-year-old Lorcan, who has cerebral palsy, in the early hours of December 9 when she developed a severe migraine.

She lost consciousness and her heart stopped beating.

Despite the efforts of staff at Antrim Area Hospital, where Laura was a nursing sister and ward manager, her condition deteriorated and her life support was turned off last Monday.

She was buried in her wedding dress on Friday after colleagues formed a guard of honour.

A fundraising page set up in Laura's memory to benefit Antrim Area Hospital ICU and children's charity The Buddy Bear Trust has raised nearly £12,000 so far.
