I won't be deterred by threat of bomb: MLA Daithi McKay
A North Antrim Sinn Fein MLA has vowed not to be intimidated after a bomb threat was made against him.
Daithi McKay (32), who is from Rasharkin, has a constituency office in nearby Dunloy and he tweeted yesterday afternoon: "On phone to police after caller to office claimed to have left a bomb outside our home. Won't deter me in my duties as a public representative."
And on Facebook he said: 'Thanks to our office staff... who had to talk to this idiot. Have to take such calls seriously until proved false but it will not deter me in my duties as a public representative."
In a statement later, he said he "will not be deflected from my duties".
He added: "I have been made aware of a warning put through to my constituency office that stated that there is a bomb planted outside of my home.
"The cowards behind the threat and their accompanying actions are beneath contempt."
A PSNI spokeswoman said: "We are investigating a call warning of a device at the home of an MLA."
