Ian Paisley’s Spitting Image puppet sells for £1,080
A Northern Ireland peer is worth more than a British Prime Minister.
That’s according to the prices fetched for Spitting Image puppets at Bonhams auction house in London yesterday.
A mystery buyer is now the proud owner of former DUP leader Ian Paisley’s puppet, after the hammer fell at £1,080, almost £300 more than anticipated.
The latex creation infamous for booming at viewers of the satirical 80s TV show stands at 30ins tall. Former Prime Minister Ted Heath's puppet fetched £720, while two dull grey puppets of Sir John Major sold together in the same lot for £900.
Mr Paisley said: “I am not surprised at that. People know a good thing when they see it...
“I hope the money raised goes to a good cause.”
