Zara Phillips says that she is lucky to have had a "slightly more normal" upbringing than the rest of her royal relatives.

The Queen’s granddaughter is training to compete at the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympics to add to the silver she won in the equestrian team eventing competition at London 2012.

In a Sunday Times interview to be published next week, she said: “I’ve been very lucky. My parents didn’t give us titles, so we’ve been able to have a slightly more ‘normal’ upbringing. As soon as you’ve got a title, it’s very difficult to shed it.”

Phillips (34) and her sports agent brother Peter are the children of the Queen’s daughter Anne — the Princess Royal.
