In my day: We quiz DJ Sonya Mac on the time of her life

Q. What was your decade?

A. The Noughties. I started in Cool FM in 2001 and I'd been trying to get there for eight years.

Q. What was life like?

A. I was straight into the afternoon show. Starting at 1pm until 5pm and before that I had been on other stations and teaching. It has changed my life totally - I can't have a conversation with anyone without them knowing who I am, particularly when I open my mouth!

Q. What were you listening to?

A. I like R&B but I started listening to more mainstream music as Cool FM is such a popular station. I've always been into Pink and Christina Aguilera - I certainly wasn't a Britpop girl

Q. And the style?

A. I've always been more casual and I tend to live in jeans and a T-shirt. I've never followed fashion so they never managed to get me into skinny jeans even though I wear them now.

Q. What has changed?

A. I started running in 2010 so I would be healthier now - sitting in the studio wasn't very good for me.

Q. What was better back then?

A. There wouldn't have been cyber bullying back then. With the 24/7 access that comes with social media I think people wouldn't have been so nasty then - they couldn't have hidden behind technology.
