In My Day: We quiz Gillian Killiner on the time of her life

By Staff Reporter

Q. What was your decade?

A. My decade would be the '90s although I have some fabulous memories of the last few years of the '80s with luminous fashion and puffball skirts.

Q. What were you listening to?

A. I listened to a wide genre but mostly U2, Prince and Madonna. I absolutely loved dance, disco - anything to get me dancing.

Q. And the style?

A. The style was easy-going, although I do remember the Doc Marten boots, Levi's 501s and the batwing jumpers left over from the '80s.

Q. What was life like back then?

A. Full-on with partying, studying and three-day festivals. My first degree was in London with a third year placement in Belfast working at the Royal Victoria Hospital.

Q. What has changed since then?

A. It seems that all the daily fun of the '80s and '90s happened to another person as my life has changed so much. All for the good, though. I qualified as a dietitian in 1997 and seven years ago I decided to set my own dietetic company.

Q. What was better back then?

A. I look back and think how easy life was and how lucky I was to have such wonderful parents to provide with me with opportunities to flourish and a strong work ethic.
