A host of well-known faces poured into Belfast for a red carpet gala event, the Titanic GO Awards.

The annual ceremony, also known as the GONGS, showcases the best of Northern Ireland’s retail, tourism, hospitality and entertainment sectors. More than 25,000 people voted online this year for local businesses nominated across 14 categories.

Finalists ranged from the MTV Awards and Tennents Vital events, The Merchant Hotel and Galgorm Resort & SPA and department store House of Fraser. Restaurants including Mourne Seafood bar and The Boat House were also finalists alongside hairdressers, such as Chocolate Blonde in Markethill, and local nightspots, Sally’s bar in Omagh and Cookstown’s Sense nightclub.

The awards night was attended by stars from across the celebrity spectrum — including Big Fat Gypsy Wedding’s Paddy Doherty, local actress Jayne Wisener, MTV’s Laura Witmore and her Corona’s frontman boyfriend Danny O’Reilly, presenter Zoe Salmon, boxer Martin Rogan and artist Terry Bradley. Personalities from the media world were there including Cool Fm DJs Kirsty McMurray and Pete Snodden, who was shortlisted in the ‘Media Personality’ category.

TV funny man Rufus Hound compered the GONGS — which was partnered by Cool Fm and Sunday Life.

Joining host Rufus was X Factor finalist, Misha B and Northern Ireland’s own music sensation Iain Archer and wife Miriam, who have just toured with Snow Patrol. The audience was treated to an eclectic night of entertainment.
