Irish map-maker in Londonderry row

Foyle Sinn Féin MLA Raymond McCartney has called for a new Ordnance Survey map of Ireland that refers only to ‘Londonderry' to be amended.

Mr McCartney said: “The Detailed Map of Ireland names both the county and city of Derry as ‘Londonderry'.

I find it incredible that an Irish public body such as Ordnance Survey Ireland could ignore the name of Derry which is accepted by the Irish government as the historic name of this city and county.”
